The Short Version

  • Some buy now, pay later plans charge interest or fees. The terms say which.
  • Find the interest rate, the fees and the total you will pay before you agree.
  • A missed payment can cost you a late fee.
  • List every plan with your other debts, so it gets paid in order.

Where Do You Find The Interest Rate And Fees?

In the terms you agree to at checkout, and on the plan's own page before you confirm. Look for the interest rate (APR), any late fee, and the total you will pay.

What Does A Missed Payment Cost?

It depends on the plan, and the terms state it. Some plans charge a late fee for each missed payment. If the plan takes payments from a debit card, a failed payment can also bring a fee from the account it pulls from.

How Do You Track Them?

Write each plan down like any other debt: what is left, the payment, the due date and the interest rate. Then add it to the debt snowball calculator so it gets paid in order.

Can I pay it off early?

Check the terms. They say whether you can, and whether there is a fee.
